Shampoo properly. By this, I mean ensure that you are using the right shampoo formulation for your hair type. If you have color processed hair, make sure that the shampoo you use is suitable for hair that has been dyed likewise, if your hair is thin, oily, or dry be sure to invest in a shampoo that particularly addresses your hair need because using the wrong shampoo for your hair type can adversely affect the look, texture, and style of your hair and may even cause breakage or hair loss.

Dry your hair well. Today's hair dryers are highly developed and innovative to where they do not harm your hair as much as they used to compared to hair dryers years ago. Some even have hair conditioning ions to help protect and condition your hair as it is drying. Cool right? Of course, air drying is always best for hair health however there may be times where you need your hair dried quickly and in those cases, make sure to keep the air moving over your hair ensuring to not leave it on one area while drying and if time allows, use the lowest setting.

Use a good hair oil or serum: There are a huge variety of great products around that are designed to smooth your hair or keep it healthy and manageable however using products that is natural or contains a majority of natural ingredients is best in the long run. Your hair will thank you for it. Your scalp produces sebum, a natural oil to keep it looking its best but sometimes, it will produce too much or not enough. When your scalp produces too much of this natural oil then it is best to use the right shampoo for your hair type to help your scalp to naturally balance the amount of oil it produces but if your hair type is one that is often dry like my hair type then you will need to use a product to add more oil to your hair preferably something as close to being natural as the oil that is naturally produced by your scalp and you will need to ensure that your hair is never dry to avoid breakage especially if you want to grow long hair.

Use good quality hair straighteners. One might say to not apply heat to your hair at all but in today's world, this is not always realistic for some especially if you desire straighter hair so if you must, just be sure that it is one of good quality. Most people find that the cheaper hair straighteners do not do a very good job. You might find that they do not get hot enough to iron out the kinks properly on a single pass and may not be slippery enough to allow your hair to pass through smoothly. Opt for a ceramic and make sure that there is an adjustable temperature control. Ceramic plates will help to discharge the static electricity from your hair and leave your hair looking straight for longer which decreases how often you will need to straighten your hair. This is a plus because the less often heat is applied to your hair, the less risk for heat damage.

Eat well. Your hair is nourished by what you eat and drink and will not look good if you don't eat a balanced diet with plenty of vitamins and minerals. Hair is mostly made of protein, so make sure your diet includes plenty. Drink water too, as this helps to flush impurities out of your body and will keep you feeling and looking healthy.
